a. Head of the Committee:
Arrange meetings with the respective members and write minutes of meetings/reports i.e. actions taken, actions planned, status of assigned tasks, etc.
Prepare and maintain a proper record (hard and/or soft copies) of all the relevant documents.
Coordinate and provide required documents to other committees, focus groups, program coordinator or chairman, when necessary.
b. General Responsibilities:
Develop ways and techniques to improve research motivation and activities in the department.
Organize conferences/training sessions and invite guest speakers.
Research collaboration with other universities/industry.
Initiate student chapters (e.g. SCE, ASCE, ACE, etc.).
Circulate information (e.g. list, forms, requirements, etc.) about organizations which provide research funds/support.
Circulate information of various scientific knowledge resources (online access to textbooks, research articles, etc.).
Deliver lectures to the faculty members regarding matters related to research.
Review Graduation Project Topics and Syllabus to meet the program accreditation requirements.
Provide consultation to students to present their graduation projects / research papers at national/international forums.
Review civil engineering faculty members’ applications for promotion.
On the recent days, Dr. Mohammad Saeed Al-Alam, Vice-Rector of Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University for Knowledge Exchange and International Collaboration, has chaired at the university campus here a meeting of the joint committee between Imam University and Saudi Housing Ministry for preparing the Memorandum of Understanding "MOU" between the both parties.
Speaking about the proposed MOU, Dr. Al-Alam has reaffirmed the importance of such agreements between the governmental agencies, especially in the availability of researchers and experts from the university.
In significance with the meeting's agendas, the members of the joint committee were discussed benefiting from the Saudi Real Estate Institute and employing the university's research and training capabilities to leverage the institute in all areas. The meeting was also addressed the possibility to take the advantages of the female and male students of the university, particularly in the regulations and entrepreneurship areas.
In a similar vein, the meeting was focused on benefiting from the university's media capabilities and to what extent it would be useful in circulating the Saudi Housing Ministry vision and strategic plans, especially with the technical and media experiences of the university in this field.
Lastly, the meeting was agreed on benefiting from the experience of the university in the international collaboration and understanding frameworks through studying identical international modules.
Deanship of Academic Research of Al-Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University, in collaboration with Research Unit of College of Sharia and Islamic Studies – El-Ahsa, has organized lastly a symposium entitled “Culture of Knowledge and Academic Exchange at Saudi Universities” in the presence of Dr. Abdul-Rahman Al-Muzini, Dean of the College, and a number of the college’s dignitaries.
The symposium, which was started with a word of Dr. Abdul-Latif Al-Hussain, Professor of Culture at Sharia Department, where he focused on the development of the education, in general, and the university education, in particular, has attended by a number of the faculty staff members and interested persons.
In continuous with the word of Dr. Abdul-Latif, he addressed the aspects of the knowledge and science tools at Saudi universities, and particularly he clarified two of them, the first was the care about the knowledge capabilities of the faculty staff members and the other was the care about the strategies of the academic research at the universities. He, additionally, spoke about a number of recommendations including creating of a high-quality educational system working on developing the university community and the informatics community of the university. Moreover, to increase the knowledge awareness and spread the culture of knowledge exchange throughout encouraging the interchangeable visits between the researchers and students of the Saudi academic research centres.



Sheikh Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, President of Al-Haramain Affairs Presidency, has received at his office at Makkah Prof. Dr. Fahd Al-Asker, Vice-Rector of Al-Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University for Higher Studies and Academic Research, who doubles as Vice-President of Research Chair Program.
In significance with the meeting, both parties were discussed deeply the collaboration bonds, through Al-Haramain Research Chair, which launched recently. Sheikh Dr. Al-Sudais has commended the efforts of Al-Imam University to enhance the positive initiatives that support the academic research areas.
From his side, Dr. Al-Asker has thanked Sheikh Dr. Al-Sudais for his keenness and care towards Al-Haramain Research Chair. At the end of the meeting, Sheikh Dr. Al-Sudais has presented a souvenir to Dr. Al-Asker.
Sheikh Dr. Muhammad Al-Khuzayem, Vice-President of Al-Haramain Affairs Presidency, and Dr. Khaled Al-Subiai, Manager of Sheikh Al-Sudais’ Office, and Prof. Dr. Abdul-Lateef Al-Nafie, Member of Research Chair Program Board, and Dr. Saleh Al-Anazi, Manager of Research Chair Program, and Mr. Nabil Al-Lehidan, Academic Coordinator of Research Chair Program, were attended the meeting.
Recently, Dr. Muhammad Said Al-Alam, Vice-Rector of Al-Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University for Knowledge Exchange and International Collaboration, and Chairman of the Governing Board of Islamic University of Technology (IUT), a subsidiary organ of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), has presided the 41st regular meeting of the board at Dhaka, People's Republic of Bangladesh.
In significance with the meeting, Dr. Al-Alam clarified that, the Board deliberated on many issues including the budget for the Fiscal Year 2017, opening faculties, launching new department and programmes. The Board expressed its deep appreciation and gratitude to the government of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, for continued patronage and support of the university.
“Saudi Arabian Kingdom is exerting each and every possible effort to strengthen its bilateral relationships and collaboration with all Islamic countries”, reaffirmed he.
